Daycare is EXPENSIVE. We shopped around the Minneapolis area and found that rates for infants range from $350-$500 PER WEEK 😖. That’s like another mortgage payment a month. Is is just me or is that insane?! Luckily we’ve found a way to pay for daycare with a lucrative side hustle. Que breast milk donation.
Liquid Gold. Just how precious is this stuff? Precious enough that we are able to completely cover daycare expenses through milk donations. Yup, you read that right. The market for breastmilk is actually huge. From private exchanges like Only The Breast to donating through milk banks you can earn up to $4 per ounce!
We chose to go the milk bank route. We went though a few extra steps to become milk bank certified and the donated milk goes to extreme premies (24-25 weeks). For us, the opportunity to make a little extra money ($1 an ounce and free storage bags) while helping out babies who are most in need sealed the deal.
We’re currently donating to Tiny Treasures, and they are always looking for more donations. They accept milk up to 10 months old, so if you’ve got milk stored and you don’t have any idea what to do with it, it may not be too late to make a few bucks!
If you have any questions about the donation process, feel free to reach out!
